Preston Parrott creates sculptural works that explore our relationship to the physical world. He is intrigued by the visual elements of line, color, texture, and form and inspired by concepts from physics and metaphysics.

Like an alchemist, Preston combines raw materials with elemental processes to create his inspirational metal works. The results of this collaboration with time, space, and matter are works that seem to 'hold still' a moment in time, allowing the viewer to contemplate that which is often fleeting.

Beginning with a basic plan for each sculpture, he works intuitively with his materials and techniques, exploring the richness of the creative process. The essential qualities and true beauty found in metal are expressed through Preston’s use of chemical patinas working onto the metal’s surface. Yielding a natural yet dynamic range of colors, the patina becomes part of the metal, a marriage of surface and structure, color and form. In Preston's patient hands and through his intuitive mind, the patinas become the artist's paint and the metal is his canvas.

Whether designing a one-of-a-kind custom fixture for a home or making a large-scale artwork, Preston employs knowledge, skill, experimentation, and innovation towards his creative endeavors.
